Publishing

When we talk about our business, we always describe ourselves as a three-part operation: publisher, wholesaler and distributor. At the heart of what we do is our own range of titles that we publish across our imprint. We now have five imprints: Lomond, Lyrical Scotland, GW Publishing, Kessock and Colin Baxter Photography.

Under our Lomond imprint, we publish a select range of high quality, great value Scottish interest books, across all genres, aimed at the tourism and heritage market. Our Lomond books focus on Scottish culture and are ideally suited as a souvenir for visitors to Scotland or as a gift for anyone with an interest in Scotland. Our range currently includes books on Scottish history, wildlife, walking and the outdoors, photography collections and guides to our major cities.

We also publish a best-selling range of children's books including Hamish the Hairy Haggis and The History of Scotland for Children.

In addition to our Lomond titles, we publish under our Lyrical Scotland imprint. This imprint is focused on photography and landscape books that demonstrate the staggering beauty of Scotland's natural environment. At the core of the Lyrical Scotland range is the Picturing Scotland series which offers a picture book for every corner of the country.

Our GW Publishing imprint is our more conventional 'trade' publication imprint. This includes a variety of adults' and children's books, among them Harry the Highlander which is a well established market leader.

Kessock Books was acquired in 2018 and is a short-run, non-fiction imprint specialising in local interest titles for the Scottish Highlands. Notable titles in this imprint are Where Seagull’s Dare, a native’s guide to the Highlands and Islands, and David Spaven’s narrative of the Far North Line, Highland Survivor.

Colin Baxter Photography was acquired by Lomond in 2019 as a well-established brand. With the acquisition, we took on not only Colin Baxter’s range of beautiful photographic gift books, but also his extensive ranges of stationery products including coasters, gift wrap, magnets, postcards and photographic prints which we will continue to produce with images for Scotland and the Lake District.
